Mrs. Irene Whitaker, daughter of the late James Alton and Laura Ping Slavey, was born in the Ruth Community of Pulaski County, KY on November 30, 1933 and she departed this life on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 having attained the age of 76 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Hershal Roscoe Whitaker on June 29, 1951 in Georgia, he survives. Other survivors include; two daughters, Carol Antonio of Houston, TX and Dianna (and Bobby) Lyons of Science Hill, KY; five grandchildren, Jeremy (and Brandi) Lyons, Joseph (and Kristen) Lyons, Justin Whitaker, Jessica (and John) Brainard, and Anthony Antonio; seven great grandchildren; Ashtyn Lyons, Orion Lyons, Abbie Lyons, Olivia Lyons, Ethan Brainard, Levi Brainard, and Dane Brainard.; and two sisters, Margaret (Delno) Stogsdill of the Whetstone Community and Evelyn Vanhook of Somerset, KY.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Whitaker.
Irene was a member of the Saline Baptist Church, she was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. David Bullock and Rev. Grant Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery.
