Betty Jo Strock

August 16, 1939 — February 11, 2018

Betty Jo Strock, age 78, of Eustis, Florida has passed into eternal life to live forever with her Lord on February 11, 2018. Betty was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 16, 1939 to the late Robert Crate and Rosa (Calhoun) Rutherford.  She was one of eighteen siblings.  Betty took up residence in Chicago Illinois, where she resided for many years. She relocated to Covington, Kentucky for a few years before moving back to her home town of Somerset. She remained a Somerset resident for much of the later years of her life. Betty was the former wife to the late Harold Kenneth Strock Jr.  She was primarily a homemaker and mother. Betty loved to sing and could play the piano by ear. She shared her God given talent by playing the piano at various nursing homes and the residents always enjoyed hearing her play. For a season of her life she was employed as a caretaker to the elderly. Although Betty loved God and received Jesus as her Lord and Savior, as a young girl, she later wandered away from the faith. She recommitted her life to Christ at a Revival in Chicago Illinois in the 1970’s. She loved to read God’s word. Betty did not have an easy life, as she was a single mother for many years. Betty was most comfortable being around all her siblings and she loved each of them very much. Betty fell ill to what is believed to be stroke related dementia and she lived the last 15 months of her life in Eustis, Florida, in the care of her daughter, and her daughter’s family. Betty passed from physical death into eternal life, peacefully, and with family members by her side. She is survived by her daughter Melissa (Hunter) Elliott; three grand- children: Gregory Eric Cook of Des Moines, Iowa, Jacob Hunter Elliott of Eustis, Florida and Wade Austin Rutherford of Berea, Kentucky. She is also survived by siblings, Glenn, Gale, Tony, Bill, Boone, Paul, Relada, Opal Lee, Wanda, Barbara and Ruth.  She is preceded in death by siblings, Illene, Steve, Mattie, Jay & Carolyn.A memorial Service will  be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro.
