Ardell Leonard Shelton, age 95 of Burnside, KY, departed this life on January 27, 2018.Bro. Shelton was born November 2, 1922 in Pulaski County to the late Dee and Nora Jones Shelton. He was united in marriage to Marie Stigall Shelton on May 17, 1943 in Ringold, GA. She preceded him in death.Ardell lived a life of service to God and his family. He was an ordained minister of the Baptist Faith, and a member of the Grave Hill Baptist Church. Bro Ardell pastored several small churches, and did Evangelist work in Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee Georgia and Florida.Survivors include 4 children, Dee (and Cindy) Shelton of Sellersburg, IN, Charlie Shelton of Lexington, KY, Brenda (and Howard) Flynn of Somerset, KY and Mary Elizabeth Kline of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Lloyd Shelton of Tallahassee, FL and Don Shelton of New Castle, IN; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Other than his parents and his wife, Bro. Shelton was also preceded in death by; 1 son, Carlos Shelton; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Shelton; great grandchildren, T.J. Shelton and Charlie Shelton; 2 sisters, Helen Keith and Mabel Neal; 4 brothers, Bob, George, Noel, and Edgle Shelton.Bro Shelton served 2 terms in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) as a teenager. He married and moved to New Castle, IN and worked at Chrysler before being drafted for World War II. He served in the Army from January 7, 1943 to October 18, 1945, He served under Patton as a gunner on a tank in the following areas of Europe; Scotland, England, Wales, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, and Checkoslavakia and Austria.After moving back to KY, he retired from Pyrofax / Nead & Holiday Gas Company and he became an ordained minister on November 16th, 1963.Relatives across the country loved him for his kindness, and the personal christian life he walked each day with his personal savior. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. John Duvall and Bro. Harvey Corder officiating. Burial will follow in the Grave Hill Cemetery.The family of Bro. Ardell Shelton will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018.Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Bro. Ardell Shelton.
