Burnidean Whitaker

Burnidean Russell Whitaker, 95 passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born on June 26, 1930 in Albany, Kentucky to Jason and Deffie Davison Russell.

Burnidean married Dennis "Turp" Whitaker in 1951 and they would spend the next 65 years raising their family and loving one another. She was am employee of The Western Electric Company, as well as Shopville High School and she retired from Palm Beach Company. She was a active member of the Shopville Fire Department where she served on the board of directors. Burnidean was of very strong faith and was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping and four - wheeling as well as car shows which were activities that allowed her to spend time with her husband and family. She also loved a good yard sale, reading and working puzzles.
Burnidine will be remembered as a fine lady, as well as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother in law, Sister in law, and friend who's sweetness and love will be greatly missed.
Burnidean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis "Turp " Whitaker, one child who passed in infancy, Jackie Whitaker, a brother, Osie Russell, a sister, Chestalene Whitaker and a brother in law Harold Whitaker.

She is survived by two sons, Keith (Patty) Whitaker, Kevin Whitaker and his fiancee, Melissa, her grandchildren Drew Whitaker, Amber Whitaker and Jenna Whitaker, a brother, Jerry (Linda) Russell as well as her brother and sister in law Bobby and Pat Whitaker.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Dykes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Pulaski Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Sears Cemetery.
