Christine "Christie" Champlin Adams, beloved wife, mother, daughter, attorney, volunteer, ardent "baseball mom" and treasured friend to many passed away on August 20, 2026, after a life defined by devotion to family, service to others, and a deep love for her community. Her amazing life was ended suddenly by a rare super aggressive cancer.

Christie was born in Summit, New Jersey, on April 10, 1968, to Caryl and Herbert Champlin. With her father's career advancement, her family later moved to Lake Forest, Illinois, before settling in the St. Matthews area of Louisville, Kentucky. The Champlin family regularly vacationed in the Sarasota, Florida, area and cherished their second home on Siesta Key.

Christie attended Kentucky Country Day School, where she completed her primary, middle, and secondary education. She played youth tennis and golf at Big Spring Country Club. Her family's arrival in Louisville coincided with the golden era of University of Louisville basketball, and the family became ardent lifelong fans.

After graduating from KCD in 1986, Christie attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, entering as a member of the second coeducational freshman class of the formerly all-male liberal arts college. She was a Kappa Kappa Gamma member and graduated in 1990. Her love for Washington and Lee continued as she attended Washington and Lee School of Law from 1990 to 1993. She was among the first "seven-year women" at W & L.

Following law school, Christie began her career in trust and estate administration at Liberty National Bank in Louisville. She remained with the bank until it became JPMorgan Chase. She left Chase as the State Director of Estate Administration.

After marrying Somerset attorney John Adams in October 2002, Christie moved to Somerset and soon became an integral part of the community. Christie's law practice in Somerset focusing on wills, trusts, medical directives, and estate administration. Her work reflected the same qualities that defined her life: compassion, diligence, generosity, and a genuine desire to help people navigate important moments with dignity and care.

Christie's professional accomplishments were matched by her extraordinary commitment to volunteer service. In Louisville, she volunteered with Friends of the Louisville Zoo and the Washington and Lee Louisville Alumni Society.

In Somerset, Christie gave generously of her time, talents, and leadership to numerous organizations. She served as a volunteer, member, or officer with the Somerset-Pulaski County "Morning" Rotary Club, Lake Cumberland Performing Arts, Hospice, Pulaski County Early Childhood Council, the Pulaski County Library, and Habitat for Humanity.

Among her proudest accomplishments was being a founding member of the Pulaski County Dolly Parton Imagination Library board, an organization dedicated to putting books into the hands of local children and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Christie's greatest joy, however, was her family and the people she loved. Her intelligence and love of reading was passed on to son Charlie. She was a parent Cub Scout and Scouting USA leader. In addition, she loved being a "baseball mom" as her son played youth and high school baseball.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, wit, generosity, loyalty, and tireless commitment to making her community a better place. Her influence lives on through the many people she helped, the organizations she strengthened, the children she inspired through literacy, and the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Christie is preceded in death by her father Herbert Champlin. She is survived by her mother, Caryl Champlin; her husband, John Adams; her son, Charles Herbert Adams; and her in-laws, Ann Clay Adams (Fritz Bogar), Chuck Adams, Jane Adams Venters (Dan) and mother-in-law Norma Adams.
