Clay Parker Davis

Clay Parker Davis, former President of Citizens National Bank passed away February 22, 2024 at The Jean Waddle Care Center, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Clay grew up in Sadieville and graduated from Scott County High School in 1959. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served his country for four years. Returning home, he began his banking career and graduated from the Kentucky School of Banking at UK and the Graduate School of Banking, Madison Wisconsin.

Clay became an icon in the financial industry and was known throughout as a giant in the financial field. He served as President of Citizens National Bank for 35 years retiring in 2007. Under his leadership he resurrected Citizens from a $22 million dollar bank to $315 million in assets in 35 short years.

He was born January 23, 1941 in Sadieville, Kentucky; the son of Sadie Elmo Hutchcraft Davis and Emory Parker Davis. He was raised by his beloved great aunt and uncle Frances Parker Warring and Bill Warring.

Clay is survived by his wife Sheryn Bowen Davis; his daughter, Jodie Parker Davis Owings and her husband Scott; grandchildren, Camron Owings, Ashlyn Owings, and a Godson Dane Legg Potter; a step-son, David Shearer and his wife, Cassie, their children, Hayley, AraBella, and Elijah; a special sister-in-law, Rochelle Davis; nieces, Susanne Davis and Sandra Coons. He is also survived by Imadene Brinson, and her husband Dellis, his Senior Vice President and assistant for 51 years.

In addition to his parents and the Warrings, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Patricia Slone Davis; brothers, Johnny Davis and Billy Davis; a niece, Monica Carroll; and a nephew, Derrick Davis.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to all of his special home caregivers and Hospice of Lake Cumberland for their unwavering care during Clay's illness. They were outstanding in their love and care for him.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Owings, Camron Owings, Byron Owens, Mike Calhoun, Bob Harris, David Shearer, Larry Vanhook, and Dane Potter. Honorary pallbearers include: Citizens National Bank Board of Directors and special friends, Imadene Brinson, Marjorie Barrett, Rita and Benny Hewitt.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan Coffey officiating.

Interment will be in Somerset Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday, February 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church and after 9 AM Tuesday, until time for services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Clay Parker Davis Scholarship Endowment Fund at Somerset Community College.
