Clealus E. (C.E.) Jacobs, 89, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center. C.E. was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on August 27, 1931 to the late Ernie Jacobs and Ocie Faw Jacobs. He became a Christian when he was 11 years old and answered God's call to gospel ministry at the age of 20 in 1951. He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1950, then attended Campbellsville Junior College and Georgetown College from 1952-1957. He taught school from 1957-1959. He served as pastor in several churches throughout Kentucky and Ohio from 1953-1996, with 24 of those years at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Somerset. After his "retirement" in 1996, he served as interim pastor in various churches throughout south central Kentucky, as well as Interim Director of Missions in Pulaski Baptist Association. Throughout his life, he was active in mission work, and made several trips to Nigeria to help share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people there. At the time of his death, he was a member of High Street Baptist Church in Somerset, where he had also served as interim pastor for several months during his ministry. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances Jenkins Jacobs of Somerset; three daughters, Kathy & (Eddie) Griffin of Somerset, Sue & (Jerry) Claunch of Somerset, and Jeanette & (Virgil) Parker of Campbellsville; five grandchildren, Alison Griffin, Evan & (Alison) Claunch, Adam & (Amy) Griffin, Zach Parker, and Abi & (Thomas) Waldrupe; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Griffin, Addyson Griffin, Ayden Griffin, Alex Norton, Natalie Claunch, and Anniston Claunch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dallas Jacobs, and Eullas Jacobs; and two sisters, Lynetta Hensley, and Leuna Reynolds. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Muse and Bro. Chuck Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Waynesburg. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Pulaski Funeral Home until time for services. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Eddie Griffin, Jerry Claunch, and Virgil Parker; as well as, grandsons, Evan Claunch, Adam Griffin, and Zach Parker. Due to the underlying health conditions of his wife and the current COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the safety of others, the family respectfully requests that all visitors wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Gideons International. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
