David Delvin Jones

March 4, 1937 — December 30, 2023

Somerset

David Delvin Jones of Somerset, Kentucky was born March 4, 1937 in Mt Victory to Earl and Beulah Edwards Jones. He departed this world December 30, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

David was a retired millwright and carpenter of Indiana Kentucky Ohio Carpenters Union local 1076, and was a talented welder and farmer. He was a graduate of  Pulaski County High School and attended The University of Kentucky, majoring in architecture and was  certified as a survey tech by University of Kentucky College of Engineering as well as  proudly serving his country in the US Air force. David's generous spirit was from a more nostalgic era and will be remembered in the farming community as someone who was giving with both his time and assets. He was blessed to have a strong personality which carried him through to the end. David, being the patriarch of his family, was a great role model, loyal in his support for his children to a fault and a lover/conservator of nature long before it became a trend. He faithfully attended Southern Heights Christian Church, where he was a founding member and was very proud of his church. He was a deacon and was actively involved in all church activities. He attended worship faithfully and loved seeing all of his church family, his own family and extended family there. He was devout in his faith and encouraged others to attend as well. Throughout the years, David enjoyed working with cattle on his farm, admiring his collections of farm machinery and antiques, and fondly recalling the times spent operating the family's saw mill alongside his father and brother. He enjoyed time with his grandsons and was often found teaching them his trade. Since retiring he appreciated spending time with his great grandchildren. David’s legacy will be his love and respect of nature which will be cherished for generations to come.

He is survived by his wife, Edna (Carper) Jones, who he was blessed to have 20 wonderful years with. David leaves 4 children, Roger Jones, Kathren Lynelle Wood, Alison Jeanette Stringer and her fiancé Keith Brown and Holly (George) Zachos. as well as 3 step children, Paul (Beth) Wright, Billy (Cathy) Wright and Lisa (Chris) Burton.
