David Massey

April 4, 1940 — July 26, 2025

David Dale Massey, 85, of Burnside, Ky passed away July 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David spent his last month battling pancreatic cancer at the Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

David was born on April 4, 1940, in Somerset, Ky, the son of Frank Edward Massey and Nora Elizabeth Owens Massey. David is survived by his sisters Patricia Ann Eastham (Lawrence) of Nancy Ky; Jenny Lee Catchen of Lexington, Ky; nephew Larry Eastham of Midway, Ky; nieces Julie Ann Metcalf (Mark) of Lancaster, Ky; Susie Elizabeth Catchen (Brandon) of Lexington, Ky; Meshell Massey (Brad) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Several great nieces and nephews.

David attended Somerset High School, Vocational School in Advanced Electronics, Motorola Two Way Radio, Auto Mech and Body Work, Industrial Arts and Drawing. Studied Bible theology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering Studies at Non-Religious & Religious Degrees-completing Doctorate.

In 1970 David had a horrible motorcycle accident that took part of his leg but continued to walk with grace, dignity, integrity and courage. David was owner/engineer/salesman at Massey Electronics, Ford/Lincoln Motors, Cable TV Systems, retiring from Massey Electronics. David went on to live in Burnside to his mountaintop home in the forest that he loved and had a genuine warmth and deep appreciation for the simple pleasures that life had to offer. His deep passion was his love of CB radios, computers, and electronics. Facebook was at the top of his list for staying connected with the outside world with family and hundreds of friends all over the world. David was in contact with them daily to discuss current events, spiritual guidance, weather, nutrition, outer space, occasionally a history lesson and the simplest of sharing a birdseed recipe he made often. David had a monitor set up in his home showing a bird feeder he made to watch and listen to the birds or whatever critter might show up to eat and peck. David had a spirit of kindness. David loved his family, unending storytelling, the outdoors, feeding the animals. A visit to David's was always an adventure and the cherished memories will live on in the hearts who knew him. David always worried about the homeless. David had this bible verse taped on his desk, it must have been special. PSALM 9:11 encourages believers to praise the lord and share his deeds with others, particularly those in Zion. The verse also highlights the importance of remembering and sharing God's works with others.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife Louvena Burmett Massey and by his brother Joseph Gordon Massey.

We ask friends and other family members to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we take David to be cremated. David has requested no service.
