Debra “Debby” Sue Lyons, age 71, passed from this life Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Debby was born in Somerset, December 12, 1951 to Hollis and Bob Gleason. She attended Somerset High School where she played the coronet as a member of the Briar Jumpers marching band. She graduated as part of the class of 1969. After high school she attended vocational college and was an employee of the Virginia Cinema where she met her husband Darrell Lyons. They were married on December 29, 1973 and would spend the next 49 years loving each other. Debby was employed at Paul Wesley Bookkeeping for many years, where she kept books for several local businesses. She went back to college at Somerset Community College where she earned her associate’s degree in the arts and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa honors society. She graduated with honors in 2008.

Deb was a woman of great intellect and had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery novels, was a super fan of the band Queen, lover of animals and was blessed with the ability to be able to make people laugh, even in difficult times. She loved her soul mate, Darrell, as well as her family and friends. We will miss you forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her paternal grandparents; Levia Dugger and Mike Gleason, maternal grandparents; Beatrice and Mitchell Butt, Aunts; Betty Godbey, Grace Colyer and Bertha Roberts, Uncles; Ronald Butt, Estil Godbey Jr., Jack Gleason, her mother and father in law, Roxie and Henry Lyons and one sister in law; Debbie Lyons.

She is survived by her husband Darrell, two brothers in law Gary ( Sarah ) Lyons and Bobby ( Dianna ) Lyons. one aunt, Phyllis Butt, her nephews, Jeremy and Joseph Lyons, Eric Carter, Richard Scott Lyons, as well as nieces; Melody Hintz and Jessica Brainard. She is also survived by numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins as well as her best friend of many years Kay Lyons, all, who will miss her love and laughter.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. With Bro. Larry Butt and Bro. David Bullock officiating.

Burial will follow in Tanner Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to The Somerset - Pulaski County Humane Society, 179 Chris Way, Somerset, Kentucky 42501.
