Deva Dean Estes Buis, 100 years old, passed from this life on October 17, 2021 in Liberty, Kentucky.

Deva was born on November 24th, 1920 in Casey County, Kentucky to Homer and Lola Montis Estes. She was a graduate of Middleburg High School where she was a cheerleader. She was married to Raymond Buis on September 3, 1939 and they spent 55 wonderful years together. She was a lover of fashion, music and was an avid reader. She traveled all over the world , she stood on the Great Wall of China, traversed the Panama Canal, and toured throughout Russia, Europe, Egypt, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. Deva also enjoyed yearly trips to the Grand Cayman Islands with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Somerset, Kentucky . She was a volunteer at her local hospital, active in the Independent order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah's ,Eastern Star, Red Hatters, the Republican Club, and attended the presidential inaugurations of Bush and Reagan. Deva and her husband ran Buis Trucking Company as well as a tire business for over 45 years. She had driven everything from a logging truck at age 14, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, to an 18 wheel tractor- trailer. More recently she enjoyed a multitude of activities and loved spending time with her family. Deva spent 3 years as a resident of Liberty Care and Rehab where she was a gem to the facility. Deva was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Robert "Bob" Buis of Somerset, Kentucky, Cheryl (James) Hines of Louden, Tennessee, and Vicki Buis Stewart Newell of Wilmington, North Carolina, grandchildren; Bobbie (Doug) Wilson of Nancy, Kentucky, Rebecca Buis, James Michael Buis and Timothy Buis of Somerset, Traci Payne of Floyd's Knob, Indiana, Jeffrey (Wendy) Hines of Flagstaff, Arizona, Jennifer (Robert) Crouch of Fredricksburg, Virginia and Ursula Stewart of Lexington, Kentucky. She also leaves behind 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren as well as sisters, Daisy Pauline Estes Godbey and Berdena Estes Carpenter and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Deva was preceded in death by Her parents, Homer Estes and Lola Montis Watson Estes,her beloved husband Raymond Buis, a son Thomas J. Buis, her sisters; Irene Fredrick and Maxine Beagle as well as an infant sister Jewel Estes. A brother; John Estes, her brother -in- laws W. K. Fredrick, Bill Godbey, Glenn Carpenter, Clarence Beagle and a beloved great grandson Jacob Akin.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Liberty Care and Rehab for the wonderful care she received while there.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the transportation Department of Shriners Medical Center 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, Kentucky 40508.

Services for Deva will be held at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2021. The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM with funeral services at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
