Donald Purcell

Donald Paul Purcell, 87 passed away peacefully at his home in Somerset, KY on September 16, 2026. He was the the son of John Daniel and Evelyn Bullock Purcell who preceded him in death, along with a brother, David. J. Purcell and his wife, Alene Norton Purcell.

He is survived by his wife, Louanna Norton Purcell whom he married in 1962, spending 64 years together. Also surviving are daughters Jane Purcell of Frankfort, KY and Ann Purcell Carnes of Somerset; grandson John Daniel Carnes of Somerset, special nephew, Craig Norton of Versailles, KY and niece Lara Norton Liggett of South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces , nephews and sisters-in-law.

He attended Berea Foundation and graduated from Shopville High School. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. His career was with Continential/GTE telephone companies as a lineman and switch man. He was a skilled craftsman and mechanic. After retirement he enjoyed fishing in Florida.

A funeral service will be held at at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Skaggs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockcastle Co., Kentucky.

The family will receive friends after 9:00 AM Saturday, until time for services.
