Elizabeth Ann Hughes, age 69, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born December 28, 1956, to the late Betty Jean Barnes Hughes (and Harold) Hargis , and Alfred Russell Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents: Hepsa Mayfield and Johnny B. Barnes; Tom and Dora Hughes; and Golda and Walter Hargis.

She is survived by her brother, Harold Gene (and Shelly) Hargis, and her nephews: Koby Ray Hargis, Konner Rhett Hargis, Kameryn Ross Hargis, and Kade Riley Hargis.

Elizabeth was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Somerset, where her faith was an important part of her life. She graduated from Shopville High School in 1975 and later attended Somerset Community College. She worked for many years as a data entry operator and was known for her strong personality, honest nature, and generous heart.

Elizabeth deeply loved her family and took great pride in her four nephews, whom she affectionately called "my boys." She was especially proud of them and cherished following their lives and accomplishments.

She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets, Lily, Desi, and Minnie, who brought her much joy and companionship.

Elizabeth loved God, her family, her friends, her church, her pets, and her country. She enjoyed cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats and watching NASCAR racing. Her favorite scripture was John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as flowers in bloom and the beautiful colors of fall, her pets curled up next to her, and just being home.

Elizabeth has been entrusted to the care of Pulaski Funeral Home.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Barnesburg Cemetery with Brother Daniel Woodcock officiating.
