Gary Gene Blevins, known to most of his friends as Geno, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 in Lake Wales, Florida at the age of 76.
Gene was born in Somerset, Ky on January 24, 1947 to Nellie and Elmer Blevins. He lived in Kentucky, Ohio, and “retired” to Florida in 2005. Gene worked A LOT. Even after retiring, he still continued to travel all around to car auctions, contracting for Ally auto. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf and tell everyone how to do stuff! Geno was a heck of a baseball player in his younger days, even earning a scholarship to a small college and still very much enjoyed being a spectator of lots of sports. Recently, he was a huge advocate for Autism Speaks.
Gene is survived by his granddaughters – Jessica Laswell; Emily Laswell, who won’t know what do without his “you know what I told you about that” speeches; his great grandchildren Colton and Amelia Burdine and Bryson Kopta; special friends and Papa to Tim, Diana, and Halen Wing who will feel his loss terribly; friend Sandy Blevins; and brother – Michael Blevins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother – Mitchell Blevins.
We welcome those who would like to celebrate his life and impact to join us on Wednesday, December 20th at 11am at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.
We will then take him home to Somerset for a final service there on the December 29, 2023 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks.
Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with local arrangements.
