Gary Stephen King

Gary Stephen King, age 64, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, following an illness.

Gary was born on January 26, 1962, to Luther J. King and Angeline Presley King.

Gary was a true entrepreneur, working in many different industries throughout his life. He was a man who could figure things out, and there was seemingly nothing he couldn't fix. Whether he was working with his hands, solving a problem, or helping someone in need, Gary had a way of making things work.

He was funny, kind, and loving, with a gift for storytelling and making people laugh. He could turn an ordinary moment into a story and a story into a memory that people would carry with them. Gary loved his family and friends fiercely and gave freely of himself to those in need. His generosity, humor, and willingness to help others were simply part of who he was.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of seven years, Jonalyne Garcia King, and his children: Brandon King (Myriam) of Louisville, KY; Travis King (Deanna) of Chattanooga, TN; Garrett King, Kaitlyn King, and Shane King of St. Louis, MO; and Manitshah Upak and Manarah Upak of Somerset, KY.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Haley King of Louisville, KY; and Henley King and Owen King of Chattanooga, TN; his mother, Angeline Presley King; his siblings, Larry King (Paula) of Somerset, KY, and Patricia King Elias of Bowling Green, KY; and a multitude of others who were honored to call him Dad, Tatay, Papaw, son, cousin, uncle, brother, and friend.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Luther J. King; his sister, Valerie King Baker, and her husband, James Arthur Baker; and his brother-in-law, Lee Elias.

Gary fought a brave fight right to the end. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His laughter, his stories, his generosity, and the memories he created will remain with us always.

Pulaski Funeral Home will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 1:00 p.m., with Bro. Loran J. King officiating.
