Harold Owens Hamm, 92, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away in his sleep on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Barrington of West Chester Ohio. Prior to moving to Ohio he was a lifelong resident of the Alcalde Community where his family lived for generations. He grew up in New Enterprise Baptist Church, and subsequentially attended Parkers Mill Baptist Church.

He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 30, 1933; son of the late Lloyd Owens & Mamie (Meece) Hamm.

He was a lifelong Lake Cumberland angler and made the 24-hour trek to Perrault Lake in Perrault Falls, Ontario, for decades with a faithful group of Somerset friends, including his best fishing buddy, Milton Beattie. He was a member and former officer with the Pulaski Outdoorsmen Club since the early 60's and spent a lot of time on the skeet range becoming an expert shooter. He competed in the Kentucky State Championships in Louisville for many years.

He graduated from Ferguson High School in 1951. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1954 and served two years in the Medical Corps at Fort Dix, New Jersey. On his return from Service he was working at M.L. Gover in downtown Somerset where he met the love of his life (Joyce) in December 1956. In the 1960's he worked for the Somerset Oil Refinery as a Project Manager building service stations in Eastern Kentucky. In 1970 he became the propietor of Hamm's Holiday Boron and ran that business until the late 1980's. From there he went to work for Modern Vending from which he officially retired. In retirement he worked at Rocky Hollow Recreation Center and became a voracious walker, covering over 26,000 miles on their 1/8th mile track.

He is survived by his son, Mitchell & (Viktorija Ruta) Hamm of West Chester, OH; granddaughter, Trinity Maria Hamm & (Cade Harvey) of Pleasant Ridge, OH; a sister-in-law, Louise Carter of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Joyce Ann Brinson Hamm, whom he married on June 30, 1957 at Duke Memorial Baptist Church; and special Australian Shepherd friends, Brandy, Meggie, and Callie.
