Howard Christopher Hargis

  Howard C. Hargis entered this life on July 10, 1934 in Ruth, Kentucky. He passed away in the comfort of his home on March 26, 2018. Born to the late James and Florence Mounce Hargis, Howard enjoyed playing guitar, going on camping trips and fishing. He dabbled in many projects including building and woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with his great-granddaughter Ariel “Speedy” Gibson. Howard served in the Kentucky National Guard for 9 years before starting work at Robinson Milling Co. where he retired after over 45 years. He was a member of White Lily Baptist Church where he served his church as song leader, guitar player and treasurer of the White Lily cemetery fund for many years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Debbie (and Earl) of Science Hill, KY, grandson Tyler (and Brittany) Gibson of London, KY, granddaughter Autumn (and Hunter) Gibson of Louisville, KY, great-granddaughter Ariel Faye Gibson, brother Kenneth (and Audrey) Hargis of Somerset, KY, sister Beverly Burton of Somerset, KY, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ruth and Bud Burchfield of Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Faustine and Jimmy Burton of Somerset, KY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Fayrene Phelps Hargis in August 2014, his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Gifford and Mary Sears Phelps, brother and sister-in-law Orville and Joyce Hargis, brother-in-law Lowell D. Burton and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ola B. and Freddie Hargis. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday March 29th at 11 a.m. with Bro. Elmo (Pete) Mounce and Bro. David Harmon officiating. Burial will directly follow in the White Lily Cemetery. The family of Mr. Howard C. Hargis will receive friends on Wednesday March 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the White Lily Baptist Cemetery Fund (c/o Bertha Ann Meece, 9425 Hwy 192, Somerset, KY 42501) or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be handling all arrangements for Mr. Howard C. Hargis.
