Ida Frances Adams Holladay Gooch

Ida Frances Adams Holladay Gooch, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin, passed away on January 1, 2018 in Joplin, MO.Ida was born in Somerset, KY on April 4, 1923 to the late James Henry Adams and Desda Beatrice Meece Adams. She married her first husband, Howard Kelly Holladay, on December 24, 1944 in Jamestown, KY and together they had two children. Howard succumbed to polio on July 26, 1954. Ida married William (Bill) L. Gooch on November 28, 1963 in Somerset, KY. Bill passed away on July 4, 2014. Ida was also preceded in death by her brothers: Ernest Milton Adams and James Joplin Adams; her sister: Maxine Adams Gastineau; a nephew: Ronald Adams, and a grandson: Kirk Elliot Holladay.Ida attended Somerset High School. She was a fabulous dancer, a talented embroiderer, and a fantastic cook. She was happiest when making others smile and laugh. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Donald Kelly (and Judy) Holladay (Austin, TX) and her daughter, Billie Holladay (and Mark) Skelley (Joplin, MO); five grandchildren, Allison Holladay Skelley (and Christopher) Fasel (Pocatello, ID); James Paul Skelley, Esq. (Mountain View, CA); Dr. Nathan William Skelley (Columbia, MO); Dr. Logan Mark Skelley (Rochester, MN); and Amber Holladay (and Dwane) Belaire (Lake Charles, LA); five great-grandchildren, Ayres Mark Fasel and Adele Holladay Fasel (Pocatello, ID), Sophia Holladay (Austin, TX), and Parker Belaire and Sadie Belaire (Lake Charles, LA); nieces, Sandra (and Milford) Norfleet and Paula Kay Adams (Somerset, KY), Sue Hewitt (Nicholasville, KY); and nephew, James S. (and Toni) Adams (Berea, KY). She is also survived by several additional nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Carl (and Jeanette) Meece (Indianapolis, IN) and Marian Meece Evans (Somerset, KY).Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, KY, with Dr. Damon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until time for the services.Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
