James Harold Alford,75, of Somerset, KY and Murfreesboro, TN, passed away from this life on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, peacefully at his home.

James (Jim) was born March 17, 1950, in Versailles (Woodford County), KY. He was the eldest of the four children of James Durham and Rose Raines Alford. He attended public school in Danville, KY until 1965 when he moved to Lexington and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1968. He graduated from Florida College with an A.A. degree in May 1971 and Eastern Kentucky University with a B.A. degree in December 1972. He served as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and an air traffic controller at the Lexington Bluegrass Airport before completing a B.B.A. degree at Eastern Kentucky University in December 1981 and becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

He met his wife, Jeanetta Jo Gravil on a blind date in December 1974 in Louisville, and they were married on May 15, 1975. Jim was a devoted husband and father who he lived with his family in Lexington, KY until December 1981 when he moved with his wife and two children to Tennessee. He worked as an accountant at Loyd Smith & Associates, CPA's, Cleston Daniels & Associates, CPA's, R.R. Donnelly Printing Co, and John Bouchard & Sons Company. He also worked at Steel Summit Holdings for sixteen years where he was Vice President of Finance.

After living in Tennessee for thirty-nine years, he and his wife moved to Somerset, Kentucky in November 2021. He is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Alford of Nashville, TN and Jennifer (John) Robinson of Somerset; three grandchildren, Brooke Robinson, Will Robinson, and Jake Robinson; one brother, David (Judy) Alford of Kings Mountain, KY, two sisters, Carol Rice of Berea, KY and Barbara (Dwight) McMullin of Boonville, IN, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his wife of nearly fifty years, Jeanetta, and his parents, James and Rose Alford.

Mr. Alford became a Christian in 1963 and was a long-time member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed leading congregational singing and teaching Bible and singing classes. He was most recently a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Somerset. Jim enjoyed rifle and pistol shooting, and after retiring from accounting, he helped many people learn how to safely reload their own ammunition when he worked part-time at The Outpost Armory in Murfreesboro, TN.

He also enjoyed flying and held a Commercial Pilot's License with an Instrument Rating for both single engine and multi-engine land aircraft.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Pulaski Funeral Home with a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Bro. Kyle Blevins and Bro. Mickey Ray will officiate. Burial will be at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Hospice Compassionate Care of Pulaski County in Somerset.
