Starland Brinson

July 26, 1938 — October 23, 2020

James "Starland" Brinson, 82, of Science Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Drum, Kentucky on July 26, 1938; son of the late Willie Enoch and Nannie Florence Meece Brinson. Throughout the years he worked in factories, including Cumberland Wood & Chair, and he farmed as well. He was a member of King Bee Baptist Church where he loved attending. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and was a member of Scenic Beagle Club. He was a great carpenter, a very unselfish man who would help anyone out. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and attending family centered events.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Meece Brinson, whom he married in the White Lily Community on Nov. 6, 1959; his daughter, Pamela S. & (Earl) Durham of Mt. Vernon; a son, James "Mark" Brinson of Somerset; five grandchildren, Eric & (Brandi) Vaught, Kyle & (Marlana) Vaught, Katherine Brinson, and Gillian Brinson all of Somerset and Brandon (Rachael) Durham of Berea, KY; great-grandchildren, Justin & (Mia) Vaught, Jared Vaught & (Heather), Marissa Vaught, Taylor Vaught, Brendan Vaught, Julissa Holt, Tucker Vaught, Shelby Vaught, Austin Vaught, and Kyler Vaught; a great-great-grandson, Lucas Vaught; a brother, Cecil "Pete" & (Joan) Brinson of Grundy; two sisters, Janet Woodall of Somerset, and Margaret Hall of Ferguson; three sisters-in-law, Thelma "Cookie" Brinson, Joyce Brinson, and Birdena Brinson; special friends, Dwayne & Letha Woodall; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Enoch and Nannie Florence Meece Brinson; his siblings, Ernest & (Hazel) Brinson, Carvel Eugene "Todd" & (Fannie) Brinson, Alonzo William "Billy" & (Violet) Brinson, Leo Brinson, Arnold Brinson, and Garland Brinson; and a sister who died in infancy, Ginnie V. Brinson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Vaught, and Bro. Vestal Meece officiating.

Burial will be in Clay Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
