Janie Nell Cowan

Janie Nell Cowan, 78 of Eubank, Kentucky passed away May 28, 2025 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky following a short illness.

She was born on September 17, 1946 in Somerset to Paul and Eva Eliene Kerr Gastineau.

Janie married Kenneth Cowan on December 28, 1963 and they spent the next 61 years loving and caring for each other. Together they had one son, Terry, who preceded her in death. She was employed for many years by The Palm Beach Company where she worked in the thread cabinet. Janie was of the Baptist Faith and she was a member of Floyd Switch Baptist Church.

She loved to go camping, to the beach and traveling to new places. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making food for her friends and family. Janie loved her family more than anything and spending time with them was the thing that meant the most to her. She was a sweet and kind lady who was loved by many and will be missed

She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth, two sisters: Dene Jones and Lynn Gastineau as well as a host of nieces and nephews who love her dearly.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Terry Allen Cowan, three brothers; Ed, Jerry and Andrew "Bud" Gastineau as well as two sisters; Janice Mink and Nancy Pevley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on June 3, 2025 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home, with Bro. Bradley Goforth and Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of Gideon Bible's donated in Janie's memory.

Burial will follow in the West Somerset Baptist Church Cemetery.
