Jewell Mercer

August 14, 1943 — September 20, 2022

Jewell Bea Harper Mercer, age 79 of Science Hill passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 in the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center of Somerset, KY. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, John Nelson Harper and Doritha Bea Phelps Harper; her loving husband of 41 years, James Estill Mercer; and her son, James Loyd Mercer. Others who preceded her in death include; her sisters, Ophia Harper Brower, Ora Harper Mahaffey, Anna Marie Harper Warren, Allene Faye Harper Dye and one brother, James Orville Harper.

Survivors include; a daughter, Deborah (and Doug) Eads of Science Hill; a grandson, Adam Douglas (and Beverly) Eads of Russell Springs; a granddaughter, Abigail Brianna Eads of Science Hill; a great granddaughter, Luna Abigail Eads; a brother, Vergis Nelson Harper of Somerset,; a special care-giver and niece, Brenda Sue Dye Coner of Science Hill. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, other family members, special friends and church family who mourn her passing. 

Jewell was a loving & devoted wife, mother & grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Nelson Valley Baptist Church where she served as Pianist, Sunday School Teacher and any other position at church wherever she was needed for many years.

A funeral service for Jewell will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Morning, September 24th, 2022 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral home with Bro. Stanley Childers and Bro. Steve Meece officiating. Burial will follow in the Sweeney's Chapel Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Jewell Bea Mercer will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 23rd and on Saturday the 24th at Pulaski Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until time for the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, or the Sweeney Chapel Cemetery Fund.
