Joe D Blount, age 92, husband of Patsy Blount for 69 years passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Joe was born January 24, 1934 in Moorefield, Ky to the late Roy and Ruth Blount. He was a member of the Northcliff Baptist Church in Spring Hill, Fl. Joe was a graduate of Nicholas Co High School and The LSU School of Banking, Baton Rouge, LA. He was in banking for 38 years. He started his career in banking in 1956 in Carlisle, Ky and worked his way up to President. He then went on to become President of The National Bank of Cynthiana, Ky, serving 3 years on The Federal Reserve Board of Cleveland during that time. He finished his banking career at First National Bank of Corbin in 1994. In each of these communities he was involved in church activities, served as deacon or elder and Rotary Club. He loved sports especially UK basketball. He was a good fast pitch softball player and won the fast pitch championship in 1962. He loved to play golf that he picked up after softball. He played golf into his late 80's with his group from Timber Pines, He loved his church and family and was always looking out for Pat, his sons, his 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved talking sports with his family. Joe loved and cherished Pat and she loved and cherished him. Joe was Pat's rock. Joe and Pat married in 1957. They had 2 sons- Randy and Michael. Their oldest son, Randy, passed away at 46 years old in 2005.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, J T Blount and his son, Randy Blount.
Joe is survived by his wife-Pat, son-Michael Blount (Leanne) of Somerset, daughter in law-Erin Tye of Louisville, grandchildren-Whitney Cook(Seth) of Louisville, David Blount (Lauren) of Sarasota, FL, Kelli Lake (Ethan) of Berea and Chris Blount of Somerset, great-grandchildren-Quinn Cook, Parker Cook, Whitaker Lake and Anniston Lake.
Visitation will be at Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 10:00 am. A service will follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Ryan Coffey officiating.
