John Hines

John William Hines Jr. age 67, passed away June 17, 2025 in Danville, Kentucky. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on April 26, 1958 to John William Hines Sr. and Kathrine Thornton Hines.

Few of us are referred to as generational talents, musical/artistic geniuses, innately gifted. Whatever adjective one assigns would fall woefully short to describe Somerset's own John William Hines Jr, (Jon Bill). More than a brilliant pianist, Jon Bill was an outgoing, witty, and vivacious soul who left an indelible and lasting impression on everyone he met. He spent most of his adult life entertaining multitudes and rubbing elbows with celebrities and musical savants primarily in Las Vegas. His zest for life was not constrained by societal norms and "politeness", as he was an open-soul person , quick to help and compliment or criticize if he thought you so deserved. He lived a remarkable life by marching to his own drumbeat and following his heart.

He leaves behind cousins, acquaintances, and dear friends Chuck Walton and Jane Nunnelley to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Sr. and Kathrine Hines.
