Katherine Davis Thompson, daughter of the late Cleo and Lillie Harris Davis, was born at Burnside, KY on July 18, 1921 and she departed this life on June 19, 2019 in Somerset, KY.She was united in marriage to Mr. Charlie O. Thompson on August 19, 1942. He preceded her in death.Katherine was saved in her early teens and was a faithful lifetime member of the Tateville Baptist Church. She attended Sunday evening services at Tateville Baptist Church, where she remained a member since 1934. She led the singing in the 1970's more  than 10 years. Katherine returned to the morning services on July 18 , 2008 on her 87th birthday.After she married Charlie, she taught the Adult Sunday School Class and also led the singing at Lovell's Chapel / Simpson Memorial Methodist Church at their Sunday morning services for more than 62 years. She was a faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of her life. She was an excellent homemaker, gardener, and Christian lady. She was a hardworking highly respected lady, and was a member of the Burnside Civic Club for many years.She was an excellent employee in her life of work which included; Store Clerk at F.W. Woolworth in Hartford, CT in 1942 and 1943, while Charlie was in service. Katherine worked at Firestone in New Castle, IN making gas tanks for the airplanes in 1944. She worked for 3 years as inspector at Diamond Match Company in Tateville, KY until it closed in 1959. In 1965 she took a Dale Carnegie Course under Andy York. Katherine was the bookkeeper of Thompsons Garage for 49 years and she was also a sales clerk for 20 years at Clyde's Men's and Ladies Dress Shop in the Tradewind Center until the store closed in 1987. She was also the sales clerk for 4 years for her sister Margaret and Herman at Flynn's Gift Shop until they retired.She is survived by one sister, Margaret Flynn Rogers of Somerset, KY; two sisters in law, Ruth Ann Cowan Thompson of Burnside, and Virginia Sue Bell of New Castle, IN; the following nieces and nephews, Brenda Joyce (Ken) Grothaus of Cincinnati, OH, Jean (Doug) Combs of Waynesburg, KY, Jane (Bobby) Wallin, Jill (Gary) Allen, and Jennifer (Rick) Davis all of New Castle, IN,Betty Kaye (Randall) Brown of Somerset, KY, Judy Davis Godsey, Howard (Wanda) Thompson, Gail (Gary) Gossett, Mary Thompson, Bonnie Thompson Gibson, Randy (Rhonda) Thompson all of Bronston, KY, Lula Jean (Sam) Burton of Burnside, KY, Barney (Debbie) Thompson of Eubank, KY, Cecil "Bud" (Trisha) Thompson of Corydon, IN, Wendell Vaughn of Pendelton, IN, Lin (David) Garretson, Sammanish, WA, also surviving was are a host of great nieces, nephews relatives and friends who mourn her passing.Other than her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by the following brothers, Woodrow and Clarence Davis; her sister, Pauline Godby; the following brothers-in-law, Leslie, Elza, Harvey,Lloyd, Dexter, Cressel and Cecil Thompson; sisters-in-law, Geneva, Lula Alice, Alice, Ava, Mary Nell, and Anna Grace Thompson; the following nephews, John H. Davis, Raymond, Ralph, and Billy Thompson, and one niece, Margie Vaughn.God saw Katherine was getting weary and healing was not to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered, "Kate come with me." With tearful eyes, we watched her and saw her fade away, although we loved Kate dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. God raised Kate up with angel wings and now her soul is at rest. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Merrick and Bro. Larry Butte officiating. Burial will follow in the Quinton Cemetery at Bronston, KY.The family of Katherine Thompson will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019.In Lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Tateville Baptist Church Childrens Sunday School Class, c/o Bro.
