Kent D. Snyder, 56, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away of natural causes on August 15, 2025, at his apartment in Somerset. He was born on July 6, 1969, at the old Somerset hospital and baptized into the Church of Christ at age 11. Kent spent most of his life in Science Hill before settling in Somerset in recent years.
Kent lived life with a rare mix of creativity, humor, heart, and wit. He was intelligent, inventive, goofy, and endlessly talented. In his early adulthood, he owned and operated his own home repair business as well as a picture-framing shop. He also worked in various other trades and professions throughout the years.
He found joy in playing guitar and singing, as well as blasting the radio and discovering new "tunes". He even wrote a few of his own songs throughout the years. Music truly was the soundtrack of his life and a huge part of who he was. He also enjoyed painting, drawing, woodworking, and just about anything that involved working with his hands. His favorite pastime was floating around on the lake (and occasionally seeing how far he could swim).
If you've met Kent, you know that, of all his joys in life, nothing compared to the love he had for his daughter, Kelsey. She was truly his world, and he was endlessly proud of her.
Though the last few years of his life brought many challenges, Kent's positive attitude and kind heart always shined through. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making friends wherever he went.
Kent is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Velma and George Spillman; paternal grandparents, Mae and Dave Snyder; his stepmother, Mary Coleman; his aunts and uncles, Willis Snyder, Dee Snyder, Jack Snyder, Dorothy Spears, and Mike Spillman.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelsey Snyder, and her fiancé, Tyler Lewis; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Jesse Turner; his father, Ralph Snyder; his brother, Conley Snyder; his step-siblings, Angie Gillispie and Shane Turner; his niece, Billie Snyder; his aunts, Fran Spillman, Patricia Spillman, and Arlee Dagley; and his uncle, Bill Snyder.
Kent's circle of love extended far beyond family. He was blessed with many lifelong friends, including Frankie Todd, who was like a brother, and Angel Wesley, Kelsey's mother. He also leaves behind a wide community of cousins, neighbors, and close friends-too many to name-who will carry his memory with them always.
A celebration of life service will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Pulaski Funeral Home. His ashes will be spread in the place he always dreamed of going back to, Clearwater, Florida.
Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
