Lucille Goodin

August 26, 1929 — August 5, 2019

Lucille Sears Goodin, age 89, of Somerset, KY, left this world on Monday, August 5th, 2019. She was born on August 26th, 1929 to the late Evelyn Rainey Sears and Leonard Sears. Lucille was the only child of their union. Later in life she found she had more siblings, all of whom she loved dearly.

Lucille married Arthur Goodin in 1948, sharing 48 wonderful years together before his passing in 1996.

She is survived by their only child, Karen Goodin Poynter (and Donald); four grandchildren, whom she and Arthur were devoted to, Leslie Ikerd, Frankie Ikerd (and Courtney), and Emily Ikerd-Coffey (and Rodney), Sarah Ikerd-Woods (and Jared); four step-grandchildren, Jason Poynter, Shron Miller, Matt Poynter (and Amanda) and Justin Poynter; six great-grandchildren, Ashton Ikerd, Coulter, Chas, and Emery Kate Reams, and Ellie and Robey Browning; six siblings, Joann Colyer, David Sears, Barbara Mullins, Gary Sears, Linda Price, and Kay Sears; special friends, Frank Ikerd (and Charlotte), Palm Beach coworkers, best friend Stella Rexroat, and a fur baby, Charro, who was a true companion for many years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Sylvia Whitaker and Connie Eversole. Lucille was a dedicated Christian, Sunday School teacher, and all around care giver to anyone in need. The world is truly better for having known her.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, Somerset, KY on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.

Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 3:00pm at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Basil and Bro. Gerald Ashley officiating. Burial will be at the Rock Lick Cemetery conducted by Bro. Dave Evans.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Alzheimer’s Center of Somerset or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
