Jeanette Hislope, 61, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born to the late Denver Hislope and late Jo Anne Morris Hislope on April 4, 1964, in Somerset, KY.
She loved aviation and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Administration from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1987. She was a private pilot and loved offering to do stalls with her little sister in the plane.
She worked at several places where she always made lasting friendships. Some of those places include Walmart, Performance Foods, Jet Press, TempQuest, and Comfort Keepers.
Jeanette was a woman of faith who loved God. She always said beautiful prayers. She also had a beautiful singing voice reminding us of a quote ascribed to St. Augustine, "He who sings, prays twice." She played the piano almost her entire life at different churches including the current Delmer Nazarene.
Jeanette could be friends with anyone, of any background. Her friends were from every walk of life. She never met a stranger.
She loved all animals especially her two cat children, Shannon and Bubby. She always said she wanted to hug a bird and hold a King Cobra snake when she got to Heaven.
Her hobbies included yelling at her computer and cell phone, reading, and also screaming at the t.v. during a UK Wildcats basketball game. She was a descriptive storyteller and loved watching movies and t.v. She auditioned for Wheel of Fortune and was almost chosen as a contestant.
Jeanette was never afraid to be herself. She was bold, vibrant, and outspoken. She was a classic redhead and embraced having the temper that came with it. Her jewelry represented her personality, flashy, bright, and loud.
She is survived by her sister Kristi Hislope of Dahlonega, GA; her boyfriend Randy Collins of Somerset, KY; and four cousins, Brock and Charlene Muse of Somerset, KY, Renee Hislope Schmidt of Louisville, KY, and Tammy Bartley of Harrodsburg, KY; and an abundance of friends.
