Marvin Lee Whitaker, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 7, 1944 in Stab, Kentucky, Marvin accepted Christ as his Savior at the early age of 10 and was baptized in Short Creek. He loved the Lord and pursued God's word throughout his days.

He lived a life defined by hard work, reliability and devotion to his family. After graduating High School at Shopville High, he joined the Army Reserves. After marrying Barbara Edwards and starting their family, he moved on to building a career at IBM, starting in Lexington, KY and was promoted and transferred to Charlotte, NC, where he retired from the company in 1990. He moved on to a career in vacation sales in Orlando, Florida, where he fully retired in 2014. He and Barbara spent many years enjoying the Florida weather and hosting friends and family near and far. He was an avid sports fan and shared his love for golf with his son Chris, resulting in many rounds of golf together. He enjoyed fast cars and loved his 2005 blue Mustang GT.
His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren who he welcomed to his home and swimming pool on many visits and trips to Disney & SeaWorld.
He was a pillar of strength, a source of quiet resolve and earned the nickname "Cool Breeze" from his work buddies. He will be truly missed.
Marvin's legacy lives on through those who loved him most. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Jean Edwards Whitaker, with whom he shared a lifetime of beautiful memories.
His children: his son, Christopher, Allen Whitaker and wife, Angie Whitaker. His daughter Jill Mulvihill and husband Joseph R. Mulvihill II. His grandchildren: Austin Whitaker, Ashley (Whitaker) Austin, Ethan Mulvihill, Ella Mulvihill, Anna Mulvihill and Magnus Mulvihill. They each brought him tremendous joy in his later years. His siblings: Bobby Whitaker, Helen Price, Conrad Whitaker, and Keith Whitaker. They stayed close through the years and kept a group text going for every Kentucky game. The love they shared was a blessing to their families. He was reunited in heaven with his son, Lee Scott Whitaker, grandson Brandon Lee, parents Austin Whitaker and Rita (Mize) Whitaker.
