Mildred J Franklin

Mildred Jean Marcum Franklin, age 90, of Somerset, KY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 7, 2024 after a brief stay at The Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born in Pulaski County, KY on January 15, 1934, daughter of the late Mamie Francis Ping Marcum and the late William Pearl Marcum. At a young age, she began working at Tibbals Drug Store in Somerset where she met her husband of 40 years, Arnold Lester Franklin, who preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include two children from the marriage, a son, Douglas Franklin of Somerset, KY and a daughter, Candice Franklin and son-in-law, Rob Price of Stanford, KY, a grand cat Cosmo, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a homemaker, retired Retail Merchandiser at American Greetings and a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at God's Food Pantry in Somerset when she had been able to do so.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Magdalene Marcum Craft of Greenfield, IN; brothers, Paul Marcum of Level Green, KY, Kenneth Marcum of Dayton, OH, Lloyd Marcum of Indianapolis, IN, Carl Marcum of Franklin, IN and Ralph Marcum of Somerset, KY; Half-siblings Larry Joe, Clyde, Donald, Raymond, Billy, Junior and Helen Marcum of Somerset, KY, Artie Mae Jenkins of Manassas, VA, Lucille Farmer of Dayton, OH, and step-mother Flonnie Mae Brown Marcum of Somerset, KY.

Mildred was a kind, gracious lady, a wonderful Mom and dedicated wife. She will be greatly missed by many. There is a great sadness upon her leaving her Earthly home but rejoicing in her Heavenly homecoming.

Mildred requested no Funeral services and a private burial at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, KY.

The family would like to thank a special niece, Beverly Rogers Stringer of Somerset, KY and Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
