Minnie Wells

November 20, 1922 — May 20, 2025

Minnie Mildred Wells, age 102, passed away peacefully at her home in Nicholasville, KY on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 20th, 1922 in Somerset, KY, Minnie was the daughter of the late James and Alice Glover. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Gary Wells; her beloved husband, Reverend Edgar "Joe" Wells; five siblings; and numerous other family members and friends.

In her 102 years on this Earth, she saw much change, loss, and joy. She lived through the Great Depression, sent her husband off to fight in WWII, grieved her oldest child's untimely death, saw her sons-in-law fight in Vietnam, and was the steadfast wife of a Southern Baptist preacher, who held her place at his side until he passed in 1983, but continued her unwavering devotion to him for all these years. She was an accomplished quilter and crocheter who loved to shop, draw, and spend time with her family.

Minnie is survived by three children, Davaina & (Eric) Hinson of Cynthiana, KY, Deloris Wells of Nicholasville, KY, and Kenny & (Darlene) Wells of Somerset, KY; seven grandchildren, Kim & (Gleen) Campbell of Georgetown, KY, Angie & (Steve) Hicks of Somerset, KY, Shane Dykes of Lexington, KY, Jenny & (Matt) Simpson of Richmond, KY, Sara & (Will) Briggs of Union, KY, Lisa Ann & (Jason) Withrow of Nicholasville, KY, and Kodi Jo Wells of Somerset, KY; 16 great-grandchildren, Tawshiana Beggan of Ferguson, KY, Trey & (Kaitlin) Burrus of Lawrenceburg, KY, Zach Bradley of Winchester, KY, Tallyn & (Justin) Cornett of Somerset, KY, Lex Briggs of Union, KY, Jacey Gafford of Richmond, KY, Peyton Bradley of Winchester, KY, Landon Burlew of Union, KY, Gavin Simpson of Richmond, KY, Cade Hicks of Somerset, KY, Jude Simpson of Richmond, KY, Rowan Briggs of Union, KY, Delilah Garland of Somerset, KY, Rhydian Garland of Somerset, KY, Beck Garland of Somerset, KY, and Aydan Garland of Somerset, KY; and five great-great-grandchildren, Uriah Beggan of Ferguson, KY, Olivia Beggan of Ferguson, KY, Dru Burrus of Lawrenceburg, KY, Eldon Burrus of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Silas Burrus of Lawrenceburg, KY.

All of whom adore her, to say she was the matriarch of this clan would be an understatement. Her warmth, strength, and love for her family will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be remembered for the quiet dignity with which she lived, her deep love of home and family, and the gentle strength that touched everyone around her.
