Mr. Paul Glen Neely

Paul Glen Neely, son of the late Herbert and Luther Casada Neely, was born at Pulaski, Kentucky on January 11, 1929 and he departed this life May 27, 2020 having attained the age of 91 years. He was united in marriage to Betty Ridley in 1956 at Jasper, Tennessee. This union was blessed with two sons, Dr. Steve (and Joan) Neely of Cleves, Ohio and Kevin Neely of Greensville, South Carolina. He was the proud grandfather of Brandon, Cameron, Kellen, Ali, and Max Neely. Other survivors include; one sister, Norma Massengale of Monticello, Kentucky. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by the following brothers, Herbert, Jr who died in infancy, Earl and Bill Neely, and three sisters, Mildred Jones, Monnie Neely, and Elizabeth Baker. Paul was a 1947 graduate of Wayne County High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He entered the United States Air Force in 1951 and served for more than 20 years. He retired with the rank of major in 1971. While serving, he was a fighter pilot in the Korean War and a tanker pilot in the Vietnam War. He also served in the Airborne Command Post at Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska and served duty stations overseas. He was awarded several medals including the Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. After retirement from the Air Force, Paul simultaneously farmed in Pulaski and Wayne Counties in Kentucky, and in Grundy County, Tennessee. He retired from farming in 2000. Paul was of the Baptist faith. He was a kind person who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A private service will be held for Mr. Paul Neely and burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted in honor of Mr. Neely's service to his country by the American Legion Post #38. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Paul Neely at this time.
