Ophelia Mae (Miller) Smith, age 87, of Bronston, KY departed this life on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 surrounded by family at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation.  

Ophelia was born on April 20th, 1936 in Somerset, KY to the late Raymond and Stella (Phelps) Miller.  She was a homemaker and her absolute favorite enjoyment was spending time with family, especially her grandbabies and great – grandbabies.  

She is survived by her sister, Virgina Mills of Somerset, KY., her brother Edward (and Loretta) Miller of Camby, Ind., three daughters, Jenni (and Allen) Larkin of Bronston, KY., Bobbie (and Jeff) Hawk of Shopville, KY., and Ruth (and David) Skaggs of Somerset, KY.; and Michelle Godby of Somerset, KY.; eight grandchildren; Shane Skaggs (and Sabrina Coffey), Samantha (and Chad) Stykes, Jonas (and Kelli) Larkin, Matt Larkin, Kelly (and Brandon) Morrow, Robin Burnett, Josh (and Hollie) Hawk, Jared (and Holly) Hawk.; and 21 great – grandchildren; Landon Stykes, Levi Stykes, Logan Stykes, Brayden Burnett, Zachary Burnett, Jayden Skaggs, Sophia Skaggs, Sydney Skaggs, Olivia “Shay” Skaggs, Owen Larkin, Henry Larkin, Elliot Larkin, Graham Larkin, Kylee Sparks, Kyndal Morrow, Cole Morrow, Conner Morrow, Kellen Morrow, Josie Hawk, Cailynn Hawk, and Kennedy Hawk.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Robert “Bob” Smith, and two brothers Carlos Miller and Raymond Lee Miller.

Ophelia’s visitation will be Thursday, December 14th, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:30 at Oak Hill Baptist Church.  Her funeral service will be on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at 11:00 am, also at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Pastor David Skaggs and Pastor Jonas Larkin officiating.  Burial will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.  

Pallbearers will Allen Larkin, Jeff Hawk, David Skaggs, Shane Skaggs, Jonas Larkin, Matt Larkin, Chad Stykes, and Landon Stykes.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jayden Skaggs, Levi Stykes, Logan Stykes, Brayden Burnett, Zachary Burnett, Owen Larkin, Henry Larkin, and Graham Larkin.  

The family would like to say a special “thank you” to Janis Dunn, a dear friend who helped provide care for Ophelia over a long period of time.
