Russell Layton

January 31, 1943 — February 9, 2022

Russell Layton, age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away February 9, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Garrard County, Kentucky on January 31, 1943 to Hobert and Virgie Layton.
 
He was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife Judith Hines on February 16th, 1964 and they spent 58 wonderful years together.
Russell  was in the drywall business for 32 years where he worked hard to provide for the family he loved so much. He was a committed husband and hands on father who never met a stranger and loved to joke. He enjoyed collecting diecast trucks, going to car shows, fishing,Playing pool, watching old westerns and cooking. He was also an avid U.K. Wildcats fan but the thing that he loved most was spending time and making memories with his wife and family. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Hobert and Virgie ( Montgomery) Layton, three brothers Jesse" J.D." Layton, Vance " Mac" Layton and James "Jim" Layton.

Russell leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years Judith (Hines ) Layton, his sons; Mark Russell Layton and Robin  and Michael Jerome Layton and his wife Samantha Ann who he loved like a daughter. Grandsons; Noah Storm Layton, Levi Kennedy Layton, Matthew Mark Layton and Jason Andrew Layton And two great grandchildren; Azylnne Faith Layton and Izaiah Matthew Layton, three sisters in law Anna Layton of Danville, Kentucky, Mildred Layton of Indiana and Doris Layton of Rome, Georgia, an aunt; Frances Layton of Lancaster, Kentucky as well as a host of Nieces, nephew and cousins. He was truly loved by all and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home Monday, February 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM  to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 1:00 PM. with burial to follow in the Tanner Cemetery.

The Family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of either flowers or Donations of Bibles thru Gideons International.
