Sandra Ella "Sandy" Calder, 82, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at her residence.
Sandy was born in Somerset, on January 25, 1943 to the late Eva Stellene Edwards and Dault M. Hale. Sandy married Charles V. Calder on July 2, 1960, he preceded her in death on March 28, 2023. Sandy was of the baptist faith.
Sandy was a very humble, kind hearted and loving person. She met and cared for many people in her years working at the Commonwealth Journal as a paper carrier, cooking at the Colony Restaurant, or as a cook at Somerwoods and Cumberland Nursing Homes. She loved cooking for the residents and staff but her favorite was cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time and caring for her husband of 62 years of marriage. She loved every minute she got to spend with her children. and grandchildren. She was loved by all.
She is survived by three sons, Donald "Donnie" Calder, Michael "Mikey" & (Vickie) Calder and Charles Allen "Howdy" & (Vickie) Calder all of Somerset; three daughters, Cassandra "Casey" Collins, Pattie Harrison both of Somerset and Amanda "BB" & (Doug) Waldroup of Eubank; eighteen grandchildren and twenty nice great-grandchildren; one sister, Ginny & (Jim) Hogue of Danville. She was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Ronnie Hale; two sisters, Daulta Lou Bryant, Margaret Ann Childers; two stepchildren, Ricky Calder and Vickie Calder Jones; and one grandson, Cody Calder.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2025 after 11 AM Friday September 5, 2025 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
A celebration honoring the life of Sandra Ella "Sandy" Calder will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 12:30 PM with Bro. Doug Eggers, Ginny Hogue, and Hunter Waldroup officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
