Shannon LaChappelle

Shannon Lea McDowell LaChappelle was born September 26, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio to JC and Pamela McDowell. She exited this life on April 4, 2024 in Louisville, KY, following an illness of five months. She was proceeded in death by her father, JC McDowell.

She is survived by an amazing and talented daughter, Jamie Marie LaChappelle, who was the light and purpose of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Pamela McDowell; her brother, James (and Melinda) McDowell, both of Burnside, KY; her niece Malerie, her nephew Patrick, her lifelong best friend, caregiver, and cousin, Sandy McDowell (and her children Kiley and Tanner), of Somerset, KY, and her long-time dear friend Emerson Hendrix of Savannah, Georgia. She leaves behind a host of other friends and family who mourn her passing.

During her life she was a talented educator and administrator, most recently in the Jefferson County Public Schools. She cared greatly for her students, fellow staff, and her co-workers. Most importantly, she was a fantastic mother, who dedicated herself to raising her daughter, Jamie.

Throughout her illness, she showed us what she was known best for: her profound strength, dignity, grace, humility, and humor. Throughout her life, she brought smiles and love wherever she went. She has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday April 8, 2024, at Pearson’s, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Pulaski Funeral Home, 165 Highway 2227, Somerset, KY 42503, with visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, prior to the service on Tuesday.
