Shirley L. Calhoun, daughter of the late Eugene "Gene" and Ruby Burton, entered this life in Somerset, KY on Wednesday, May 30, 1945 and she departed this life on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 having attained the age of 74 years, 11 months and 26 days. In 1961 she was united in marriage to Mr. Truman Calhoun. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Larry (and Nova) Calhoun and Terry Calhoun both of Somerset; two daughters, Teresa (and Rick) Dixon of Vine Grove, KY and Jennifer Neeley (and Thomas Trammell) of Somerset, KY; two brothers, Cleatus and Calvin Burton both of Somerset, KY; two sisters, Judy Burton and Alfreda Burton both of Somerset, KY; seven grandchildren, Brian Calhoun, April Smith, Desiree Calhoun, Steven Dixon, Amanda Dixon, Zachariah Trammell, and Destiny Trammell; and ten great grandchildren. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Tim, and Anthony Calhoun; one brother, Gary Burton; and one great grandchild, Christian Calhoun. Shirley loved her family and enjoyed gardening, cooking, working in her flowers, she also enjoyed many other things that revolved around her family. She was considered the go to person of the family. She had the trust, and the wisdom to share with all of the family members and they came to her for guidance in many situations. She was a kind and loving lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. A funeral service for Shirley Calhoun will be held at the Pulaski Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 29th, and from 12:00 noon Saturday May 30th until time for services. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, persons arriving at the funeral home must observe social distancing. The staff of Pulaski Funeral Home will be on hand to assist in these matters. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Shirley Calhoun at this time.
