Stella Hail

Stella Mae Hargis Hail, 102, of Somerset departed this life Saturday, January 6, 2024 in the Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born July 12, 1921 to the late Arthur and Mae Hargis in Mark, Kentucky and soon after moved to Harwell, Ohio, where she didn't return to Kentucky until the age of 10. In 1940, she graduated from Shopville High School. On October 2, 1942, she married her husband, Marlin Hail, in Jamestown, Kentucky. She attended Pine Hill Baptist Church from the age of 10, where her husband was also a deacon. Stella worked as an employee at Palm Beach for 30 years and followed her husband as director of Farm Bureau with an outstanding service of 34 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of Senior Friends at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She loved crocheting, sewing, and making afghans.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann & (Bobby Lee) Whitaker, of Somerset, KY; one granddaughter, Tabatha Lee & (Stephen) Russell of Lexington, KY; a nephew, Mike & (Kathy) Hargis, of Nashville, TN; a niece, Laura Hargis of Nashville, TN; a sister-in-law, Ruby Sowder; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Eugene Hargis; and a sister-in-law, Martha Hargis.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 AM until time for services at Pulaski Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made to Pine Hill Cemetery. The family would also like to give a special thanks to the staff and managements at Somerset Nursing & Rehab, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, and Hospice of Lake Cumberland for the care of Stella Hail.
