Stelma R. Haynes passed away April 30, 2017, at Somerset Nursing and Rehab. She was 91 years old. Preceding her in death were her parents, William Andrew and Nova Cottongim, and her husband, Rev. Carroll J. Haynes. She is survived by her four children; Joseph C. Haynes of Sydney, OH, Timothy L. Haynes, Philip W. (and Kim) Haynes of Kettering, OH and Eunice Fern (and Chuck) Sewell of Somerset, KY; She is also survived by nine grandchildren; JoJo-Ayne (and Bill) Nordike of Bon Aqua, TN, Justin D. Haynes of Centerville, TN, Tiffany S. Rives of Dickson, TN, Dustin Cathcart of Troy, OH, Elizabeth L. Haynes of Wilmington, OH, Joshua A. Haynes of FL, Wade Haynes of Somerset, KY, Becky Roberts of Somerset, KY, William Kendall Sewell of Louisville, KY and 13 great grandchildren, Trevor Dalton, Alex Nordike, Kyle Nordike, Boston Haynes, Sophie Allbright, Kristen Rives, Charity Rives, Andrew Haynes, Mari Haynes, Ryan Haynes. Emma Brown, James Brown, Noah Roberts, and three great great grandchildren, Paisley, Jase and Axel. Stelma was born on March 25, 1926 in Snell, KY. She was the oldest of eight children, five of whom preceded her in death. Stelma was a retired seamstress from the Palm Beach Clothing Company, where she worked for 26 1/2 years. She was a remarkable woman who personified perseverance, hard work, loyalty, friendship, charity, compassion, and faithfulness. She was a dedicated mother who loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart. She was a long and faithful member of the Ferguson Baptist Church where she worked in the Library and taught Sunday School for many years until she was no longer able to attend. Her heart's desire was to share her love of Christ with every person she encountered. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who all loved her deeply. Her legacy of love and faith will continue long after her time on this earth.The family of Stelma Haynes wishes to acknowledge the nurses and staff at Somerset Nursing and Rehab, and they extend their utmost appreciation for the staff's loving attentive care. A service celebrating the life of Stelma Haynes will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Ashley and Rev. Ron Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery. The family of Stelma Haynes will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mrs. Stelma R. Haynes.
