Sylvia Holmes

Sylvia Louise Holmes, 77, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at Cumberland Nursing.She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 18, 1940; daughter of the late George and Ella Mae Johnson Fox. She was a retired teller for Citizens National Bank. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, walking, her dogs, and feeding the cats at the lake. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. Sylvia enjoyed spending time around people, while exemplifying a pure heart, contagious laugh, a great sense of humor, and a ready smile. Regardless of the struggles she faced in life she remained cheerful and strong. She is survived by one son, Mark & (Deborah) Holmes of Nancy; one daughter, Leah & (Dale) Taylor of Somerset; a sister, Lola Emerson of Clarksville, TN; and a special friend and companion, Ira Carson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Holmes; her parents, George and Ella Mae Johnson Fox; one son, Ronald Holmes; one daughter, Rhonda Holmes; and siblings, Lawrence Fox, Leonard Fox, Velna Fox Deal, Ida Dalton, and Olive Harris. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. James Floyd officiating.Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.Visitation will be after 10 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Pulaski Funeral Home until time for funeral services.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
