Thomas Ward Gregory

Mr. Thomas Ward Gregory, son of the late Edward and Myrtle Ann Solomon Gregory, was born in Opalocka, FL on Tuesday, August, 2, 1949 and he departed this life on Friday, August 7, 2020 having attained the age of 71 years and 5 days. He was united in marriage to his surviving spouse, Kathy Upchurch Gregory. Other survivors include; one son, Tony Gregory, three daughters, Juanita Patten, Nancy Chapman, and Donna McClanahan; five grandchildren, Landon Patten, Kaysen Patten, Slade McClanahan, Mahala McClanahan and J. P. Rodriquez; and the following sisters, Ruth Ann Poggensee and Janelle Gregory. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by; five brothers, Jack, John, Edward, Jimmy and Richard Gregory; and one sister, Betty Gregory. Thomas was a United States Marine, and served in the Vietnam War. He was a Force Recon Marine and attached to B Company 1/9 that earned the title of Walking Dead for their efforts in Khe Sanh. He was also the recipient of the Purple Heart due to a vehicle explosion. He was a kind, generous, and selfless man. He valued all life and would always put others needs before his own. He was a man that loved unconditionally and always provided help and support to others. He was very proud of his children and often stated they were his greatest accomplishment. His gentle nature, positivity, and quirky jokes never failed to uplift those around him. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic and was a kind person who will be deeply missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. A private small service will be held by the family at a later date.
